The steel Tube measures 4.5mm outside. Inside the tube you'll find Teflon lining. Note that the thickness of the Teflon lining is different depending on motor (2.6mm) or water side (3.3mm). Inside measurements (see pictures). This probably to accommodate the 3mm ridget part of the shaft. Excellent gear for smaller rc racing boats
